Needed: volunteers to help repair Norwood home

Here’s another story about what makes Norwood such a generous community. Not long ago, Jim Shelby in our Building Department identified a Norwood home in need of a lot of repairs. The problem was the homeowners lacked the resources to make them. Presto, in step the Knights of Columbus and People Working Cooperatively to save the day. PWC agreed to donate all the materials for the repairs, and the Knights of Columbus said they would provide the labor.

All that’s needed now are more volunteers, men and women, to help make the repairs on Saturday, May 14. Among the projects that will be done that day are soffit and fascia repairs, gutter work, sidewalk repair, and window and porch painting.

There are a couple of ways to sign up:

1.) Click on this Repair Affair page on People Working Cooperatively’s website and then click on “Register for Repair Affair 2011” on the right. Ignore the statement that says April 22 is the deadline for signing up. Enter the name Larry Barber in the space designated for crew leader, and then finish filling out the registration form.

2.) You can also sign up by calling Larry Barber with the Knights of Columbus at 631-7524 or the Norwood Building Department at 458-4510.

If it rains Saturday, May 14, the project will be rescheduled for the following Saturday.
