Message from Mayor Williams to Norwood residents
Guest blog by Mayor Williams
As most of our citizens are painfully aware, Duke Energy has been in the process of replacing the gas lines through the City for the past five years. Each year, a selected section of the City is chosen for the process. This usually begins in early Spring and continues well into the Fall. There have, in the past, been complaints and problems for our residents, and these have usually been resolved in a relatively short time.
This year has not gone well, and we have had more problems than in any year in the past. On Thursday, May 5, Joe Geers and I sent an email to our Duke Government Representative and expressed our total displeasure with Duke on how their subcontractor was conducing their operation in the replacement process. Shortly after sending the email, Mr. Geers received a call from a Duke Representative whose responsibility is to oversee the subcontractor. Mr. Geers was assured that there would be improvement. We, of course, will monitor the situation and hold them to their word.
