Animal abuse and domestic violence are difficult crimes to discuss. Both happen behind closed doors in homes that might seem typical from the outside. Both include the commission of violence against innocent pets, children, spouses and other loved ones, by someone that is supposed to care for and protect them. Both leave the community wondering, why? During this Domestic Violence Awareness month the SPCA Cincinnati, Women Helping Women of Hamilton County, and the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati will hold a joint event offering information on the relationship between animal abuse and domestic violence, resources for people and pets in need, as well a venue for celebrating everything wonderful about the family pet. Please join us for The 1st Annual Bark Out Against Battering Pet Fest on Saturday, October 9th from 11:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. at the SPCA Cincinnati located at 11900 Conrey Road in Sharonville. Bring your family--including your pet--for pet trick-or-treating, pet costume contest, live demonstrations by pet trainers and K-9 units, doggie kissing booth, pet portraits, information, raffle prizes, food and fun. Non-retractable leashes please!
