Channel 12: Norwood hires 5 cops, 3 from Hamilton Co.
We think it’s time to direct some praise to our city officials for having learned some hard financial lessons, most recently from the Auditor of State’s declaration of fiscal watch on October 7, 2004, a designation that has not yet been lifted. Unlike Cincinnati which is facing possible police layoffs, Norwood has had the funding this year to hire 5 police officers, 3 from Hamilton County, to fill vacancies. The plan is to add more, though how many more isn’t stated in Channel 12’s report.
Mayor Tom Williams told the reporter, "Right now, we're stable, earnings have increased (see August Earnings Tax Report immediately below), we've done our homework." He said the city is saving for the rainy day he believes will eventually come. With regard to hiring more officers, the mayor said, "We want it to be safe for businesses to come in and for our residents." So do we, and it wouldn’t be possible without the group effort city officials have made to get our financial house in order. Great job!
