Unidentified man victim of hit-and-run

Lt. Tom Williams, Jr. of the NPD told the Enquirer the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a 65-year-old gentleman walking near the corner of Park and Forest last evening sped away from the scene. The unidentified man died a short time after being transported to University Hospital. Channel 9’s report says that it appears the impact threw him onto the vehicle’s roof, and he landed 500 feet away. Channel 9 also says a nearby security camera stopped operating just before the accident, leaving police without a description of the vehicle involved. According to Channel 5, police said they do not have any witnesses and are looking for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 352-3040 or the NPD at 458-4520.
