Candidate blog series: Lisa Russ, Ward 2 (I)

I was born at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida in 1961. When I was 3, we moved to Clermont County where both my mother and father’s family lived. When I was 14, we moved to Norwood, where I have been ever since. I have been married for over 25 years and we have made our home here. We have raised our 3 children here and now our grandchildren live here. Norwood is not just a place, it’s my home. My roots run deep and wide here.

Before I went back to school, I owned a small dog grooming shop in Deer Park and later moved that shop to Carthage Ave. The shop was called Paws Down Pet Grooming. After 10 years of owning and operating a small business. I made the decision to go back to school and study Criminal Justice. I have been studying and working in the Criminal Justice field since 2006. I hold an Associates and a BA degree in Behavior Science with a minor in Psychology. I have worked in the Clermont Country Juvenile Courts in all sectors: court, detention and probation. I have participated in the workings of court procedure at the municipal and local levels. I have given lectures on elderly and child predator protection and domestic violence in a college setting. I have a wide and precise knowledge in criminal behavior as it pertains to social and physiological statics. I intend to go back to UC next fall to earn my Masters in Criminology. My intent is to teach upper levels of education when I am done.

A forgotten Philosophy:
That elected officials still work for the people
where honesty is still the best policy
and communication leaves little doubt.

Norwood is at a crossroads! It is time to elect a representative that actually cares what happens to this city and to the people who live in Ward 2. I’m not a politician and I don’t pretend to have all the answers. If elected everything I do will be for the betterment of Norwood and its citizens. I will work with you every step of the way to insure a family oriented environment in Ward 2. I will work with police to find solutions for safer streets. I will work with Xavier to control students who live among us. I will take your voice to city hall where you will have your say in local government actions. I will make myself available by phone or email. My whole purpose is to insure that Norwood stays viable city and does not fall in the hands of outside entities.

What I have to offer is common sense and the ability to know right from wrong. I have one goal in mind and that is to keep Norwood a great place to live, no matter how hard or unpopular the decisions may be. I will use my experience within our justice system and behavior sciences to make you proud I am your councilperson. I am not afraid of a challenge and I will defend what’s right. I will listen to tour concerns and issues.

It is said it takes a village to raise a child. It is also true that it takes a community to raise a city.

Every vote counts and I am asking for your support on November 8th. I look forward to seeing all of you at the polls.
