Norwood Indians’ girls’ soccer team wins first sectional title
Congratulations to the Norwood girls’ soccer team for winning their first sectional title last Monday in a nail biting 1-0 win over Summit Country in double overtime. Despite their loss to Fenwick 3-0 in the Division II district final on Thursday, Norwood coach Devin Lawler told the Enquirer, “ "The win over Summit was huge because they are seen as a perennial top-10 team, and our goal was always to reach a level where we would be competitive with any team in the city,"
Norwood athletic director Jason Testerman said the Indians' sectional title meant a lot for the confidence of the program, and he saw an increase in support from the community during the season. It was the third sectional title overall in any sport in school history. The team dedicated the season to teammate Jenny Huber, who lost her battle with kidney cancer this spring.
