Retirees’ $1M lawsuit against Norwood in the fast lane
We first learned about the dispute between the City and its retired workers over their health care reimbursements from this 6/18/07 Channel 5 story. Shortly afterwards, the retirees filed a lawsuit against Norwood in U.S. District Court over the disputed medical benefits. Now the Enquirer is reporting that last Thursday, their attorney Richard Gabelman filed the lawsuit in Common Pleas Court because, he said, “We want to fast-track the lawsuit and let my clients have their day in court.”
The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of about 200 city retirees and accuses Norwood of failing to provide promised benefits. It asks for more than $100,000 in compensatory damages and more than $1 million in punitive damages.
